Tender description

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Civil Engineering and Building contractors, for the taking down and rebuilding of two sections of masonry wall forming the boundary in part of their British Embassy in Addis Ababa allowing for any attendant enabling works and the finishing in proporiatry render to match the adjacent walls. The British Embassy Addis Ababa is situated in an 87 Acre compound to the North East of Addis Ababa itself. The compound is encompassed within a perimeter wall of varying construction types and periods. The works as are the demolition and replacement of a 72m defective section of masonry wall to the southern compound perimeter adjacent to Fikreman Aba Techan Street/ Comoros Street a two lane highway, the Embassy can be accessed from either direction. As such it will be necessary to allow for temporary works, including setting up of interior and exterior security fencing to secure the site perimeters, allow for taking down and removing the original masonry wall, any temporary shoring or earthworks to ensure stability, allowing for attendant works on temporary relocation of CCTV, any excavation to new depth of formation and construction of replacement reinforced concrete walls, rendering to match the adjacent walls and new overtopping fencing, leaving site clean and tidy upon completion. The principle aim of this project is to provide new walls to part of the Southern elevation of the British Embassy Ethiopia compound site as a whole ensuring a continued safe and secure environment for staff, visitors and members of the public alike. The walls in question remain in proximity to Residential properties and the UK Visa offices which shall remain in occupation during the course of the works.
