Tender description
Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit acting on behalf of the Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Groups – Lincolnshire East CCG, Lincolnshire West CCG, South West Lincolnshire CCG and South Lincolnshire CCG is conducting a market engagement exercise to review the capacity, capability and potential solutions from the market to deliver a Community Based Leg Ulcer Services. This notice represents the first step of a market engagement process. The service is currently provided under Local Enhanced Service Contracts with General Practise providers. The contracts are due to expire 31st March 2013. The purpose of this PIN is to establish the capacity and capability of the market (excluding GP providers) to deliver the required service. Current providers do not need to respond to this notice. The responsible commissioning organisations wish to commission a service for the provision of a Community Venous Leg Care Service, in line with national guidance and local requirements. The providers need to deliver high quality, efficient services which are responsive to the needs of the local communities. The service will: • Deliver a timely and personalised wound management and healing service. • To secure the best possible outcomes for patients and their carers • To improve the quality of life for people with or at risk of recurrence of venous leg ulcers through the delivery of clinically effective assessment, treatment and advice to reduce the risk of recurrence, as long as they meet the referral criteria and do not have contra-indications • Improve local symptoms such as pain, exudate and odour and healing rate through the use of appropriate treatment in accordance with best practice, published guidance and clinical evidence and reducing unnecessary or inappropriate use of dressings and wound care products by adhering to the Lincolnshire Wound Management Formulary. • Provide appropriate patient education to ensure patients and carers may make inform
