CIE has a requirement for the provision of Audit Services. CIÉ is a statutory body set up under the Transport Act 1950 Subsidiary Companies (all wholly owned) Iarnród Éireann – Irish Rail Bus Éireann – Irish Bus Bus Átha Cliath – Dublin Bus Public bus passenger service CIÉ Tours International. 1. CIÉ’s principal Statutory Audit requirements are:- (a)timely assurance on the financial statements of the Holding company and its subsidiaries through the audit opinion expressed on those statements; (b)assurance on the adequacy of internal controls applied throughout the Group; and (c) constructive comments and pragmatic advice on the operation of the business based on information gathered in the course of the audit, and experience of best business practice. 2. Having regard to the nature of CIÉ’s business the auditor will be required to:- A.develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the transportation business, of CIÉ’s operating environment, and of its complex accounting and control systems; B.apply sophisticated audit techniques which take cognisance of the accounting and control systems which have been established and provide assurance that they continue to operate as intended; C. use advanced computer auditing techniques to ensure that the audit effort is both effective and efficient; and d. liaise with the CIE Group’s Internal Audit function. 3.Taxation Requirements A. advise on all areas of taxation including but not limited to Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE, PRSI, Excise Tax and Duties. B. Prepare the required taxation returns for the Revenue Commissioners. C. Liaise and advise in relation to the Large Case Division. 4 Accounting Requirements A. will tend to be special one off projects as the need arises. 5 Consultancy Requirements A. will tend to be special one off projects as the need arises. 6 Pension Funds Annual Audit CIE reserve the right to award to more than 1 company.
