Tender description

BIM has been operating two (2) training vans attached to two Coastal Training Units very successfully for many years providing a reliable, locally delivered, service to over 30 locations per annum. Health and Safety regulations require a suitable vehicle to transport the full range of equipment associated with BIM Basic Safety Training including Liferafts, DoT approved lifejackets, gas bottles, fire extinguishers and stability training models. The vans are also used to tow a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) for Work Boat Handling and fishing gear, ropes, netting for Fishing Gear Maintenance module. The vans are ideally suited for this purpose and this increased instructor capability could not be achieved without a van fit for purpose. BIM branded vans demonstrate a professional approach to training services and offer BIM a significant profile in fishing harbours and fish farm locations around the coast. They also offer reliability when staff needs to deliver courses in remote coastal locations in a timely manner. The vans are used to deploy training equipment at swimming pools and are essential when dealing with items to and from training venues, particularly when wet after Personal Survival Training pool training drill or boat handling training at sea. Both of these vehicles are over seven (7) years old with high mileage and as a consequence BIM would now like to invite tenders for the provision of two (2) replacement commercial panel vehicles. These vehicles will continue to offer the services provided (outlined above) in connection with its coastal training services. A specification of requirements is set out in Section 2 of this document.
