General Description The new Human Performance Metabolism Laboratory forms part of the Food for Health Ireland’s programme of research formulating and evaluating Performance Nutrition products. The laboratory will is to be equipped with high specification, high performance ergometers and state-of- the-art measurement of human metabolism and metabolic physiology. Technical Specifications. Specific requirements: An essential aspect of this proposal is that the equipment within the laboratory has been specifically indentified to accommodate high performance athletes. Two modalities of ergometer are required; 1. Performance Treadmills (2 off) 2. Performance Cycle Ergometers (2 off) The main feature of the ergometer will be applicability for programmable and accurate control of the applied workload and software interface to provide detailed and accurate measurement of the athlete’s power output
