Tender description
Directional Drilling Plant Requirements. Drilling equipment will install watermain size 225mm OD HDPE or profuse watermain Equipment can drill a pilot bore from the start point as indicated on plan (plan ref.),along a predetermined route to the completion point also indicated on plan. Throughout the operation ,adjustment can be made to the line and level of the bore where necessary. Steering can be maintained by a slant angled drilling head. Thrust combined with constant rotation can achieve a straight bore. Alternatively thrust only ,without rotation ,causes a change in direction. The drill head will carry a transmitting sonde so that the exact position, depth and orientation of the drill head can be ascertained and monitored throughout the bore via a receiver. When the pilot bore is complete ,the drill head is removed and replaced with an appropriate backreamer .The watermain can then be attached behind the reamer and drawn back through the pilot bore. The remote steering capability of the drill should make it possible to accurately drill bores between 100m and 300m in length along the desired route. If an obstacle is encountered (e.g. rock) the drill head can be withdrawn a short distance and advanced along a different line. The remote steering should also permit the avoidance of known obstacles such as existing services and the negotiation of curves. Drilling operators (2 no. max) should be qualified and experienced in the technique of directional drilling. They should hold the appropriate tickets and safety certificates. In addition,Butt Fusion jointing equipment should be provided for watermain size OD 225mm HDPE or profuse watermain. Operators of this equipment must also be fully qualified and experienced and hold the appropriate safety certificates. Proposed length of scheme is 2.6 km. It may not be possible to drill all sections due to ground conditions Price for hire of drilling equipment shall be per linear metre and sha
