Tender for the Design and Build of a Playground in Barna, Co. Galway

Tender description

Bearna/Furbo Playground Group, a sub-committee of Barna Co-Op, invites tenders for the design and construction of a children’s playground, reconfiguration of car-parking and the erection of an acoustic barrier fencing and associated works. The contractor will be responsible for the coordination, supervision and administration of the works including all the sub-contracts. The contract includes the preparation of the site, the supply and installation of all play equipment, laying of safety surfacing, including internal and perimeter kerbing and footpaths. All groundworks will be the responsibility of the successful contractor as well as associated works, including reconfiguration of car park, signage, seating, litter bins, safety bollards and lighting. Clos Sugartha Bhearna-Na Forbacha Playground committee was established in 2010 by a group of mothers and families living in Bearna /Furbo parish, whose aim is to build a playground in the village centre, to provide play facilities for young children in the area. In December 2012, the group became a sub-committee of Comharchumann Bearna teo, (Barna Co-Op), and obtained an agreement to use a site at its Multi Use Games Area (M.U.G.A.) to build the playground. Presently at this Multi Use Games Area there are excellent facilities including tennis/football/basketball courts with all- weather surfaces, separate tennis courts, changing rooms and toilets. The proposed site for the playground is in the South West corner, an area that overlooks the O’Malley and McEvaddy housing developments. The playground design must take the proximity of the residents of these housing developments into consideration.
