LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM Contract for: PROVISION OF WEED CONTROL SERVICES The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (“the Authority”) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced contractors for the provision of weed control services. The Contract will commence on the 1st March 2012 and will be for a period of 1 year. It is our intention to appoint a single contractor. The work that is required covers the application of herbicide to eradicate all grass and weed growth in all of the housing land and highways in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham which includes, but is not limited to the following: • the whole width of the footway to the kerb including to the rear of footways abutting brick, stone or other types of wall or fence • hard areas of traffic islands, central reservations (including ornamental stone), carriageways and roundabouts (including kerbs) • 300mm width of carriageway adjacent to the kerb, but excluding the remainder of the carriageways; • Pedestrian precincts • Hedge lines and property boundaries • Around the bases of street furniture including safety fencing and pedestrian guard railing • Footpaths, alleys, walkways, stepped areas that are part of the public highway • Tree bases on the footway (approximately 5000) – Porous area to be treated with residual application • All paths and hard standings in housing sites (including car parks, building plinths, garages and drying areas) these can be highlighted on maps provided or as directed • All service roads (gated and un gated) Organisations wishing to express an interest will be required to register on the Council’s e-portal.
