N69 Rea to Tullig - Civil Engineering Works Contract

Tender description

The scope of works required by Kerry County Council consists of all construction activities associated with the construction and completion of the N69 Rea to Tullig Road Realignment Scheme.The Scheme entails the construction of a realigned section of the N69 National Secondary Road in County Kerry, Ireland. The proposed realignment scheme commences on the existing N69 approximately 8km northeast of Tralee in the townland of Knockbrack and terminates on the existing N69 approximately 15km southwest of Listowel in the townland of Tullig. The proposed mainline will be ‘Type 2 Single Carriageway’ cross section and is approximately 2.5km in length. A further 1km of Type 1 Single Carriageway will be constructed as a Pavement Overlay bringing the length of improvements to 3.5km.The scheme comprises of distinct construction elements including 1km of overlay, 0.5km of on-line realignment, 1.3km of off-line re-alignment and a further 0.7km of mostly on-line realigned section.In summary the improvement of the N69 between Rea and Tullig will comprise the following:-The construction of circa 2.5km of new single carriageway roadway and the pavement overlay of circa 1km of existing carriageway;-The improvement of 3 No. Priority Junctions; 1 No. in the townland of Knocknahila, 1 No. in the townland of Rea and 1 No. in the townland of Gortclohy;-The construction of 3 No. Priority Junctions; 1 No. in the townland of Rea and 2 No. in the townland of Cloonnafinneela;-The construction of 2 No. Minor Structures;-The widening of 1 No. Minor Structure;-Drainage Works including the culverting of existing streams crossing the proposed roadway, and-Minor ancillary and accommodation works associated with the proposal, all as described in the Contract.
