Development of Walking and Cycling Strategies for the towns of Drogheda and Ardee

Tender description

The successful consultant will be expected to develop separate comprehensive walking and cycling strategies for the towns of Drogheda and Ardee. Each strategy will be required to recommend both engineered interventions together with measures aimed at increasing public awareness of the benefits of walking and cycling. The strategies must also be fully reflective of County Louth’s designation as an Age Friendly County and other policies and initiatives, currently in force with respect to both towns. The final strategies will be expected to recommend the provision of preferably traffic free safer routes for people to travel by bike or on foot , improved walking and cycling access to public transport routes and hubs, be complementary to school/college/workplace travel plans and in general to demonstrate how a reduction in short-distance car journeys through the availability of good quality travel information and alternative infrastructure can be achieved. The strategies must reflect the respective population size, strategic importance and physical extent of both towns.
