Tender description

British Embassy, Washington. Roof Repairs Project: The Foreign & Commonwealth Office is inviting contractors who can demonstrate extensive experience of re-roofing occupied buildings. The proposed works are part of the Building Repair Project to the British Embassy in Washington DC, a project driven by the need to readdress overdue maintenance works. The overall aim of the project is to bring the Residence, Old Chancery and New Chancery premises into an infrastructure and fabric state of good repair. The Residence and Old Chancery Building is a substantial building constructed in 1928 to an Edwin Lutyens design. These buildings have a mixture of pitched and flat roofs. The adjacent New Chancery building (now The Embassy) is a 7-storey, flat roofed building, formed around an inner courtyard and was constructed in 1958 to an (UK) institutional modernistic style. The 2012 Works package includes the re-roofing of substantial areas of flat roofs to the Residence, Old Chancery and the new Chancery buildings. It also includes repairs to the south balcony of the New Chancery building and resurfacing of the roof-top car park. In addition the Contractor will be asked to install site offices and welfare facilities, not only for his own works but for future works Contractors use. Contractors should note that all buildings will remain in occupation throughout the duration of the works. Please click on the link below for instructions on how to access our PQQ on our e-procurement portal. PQQ’s should be returned to this portal by 17.00 Hours (BST) on Friday 8th June 2012. Selected Contractors will be interviewed in Washington on the 20th and 21st June 2012. Tender documents will be issued on 20th July 2012.
