Official Veterinary Surgeon (OVS) at Southampton Border Inspection Post

Southampton City Council invites tenders from suitably experienced Veterinary Surgeons who wish to be considered for selection to tender for the Appointment of an Official Veterinary Surgeon (OVS). Southampton Port Health Authority operates import controls at the Border Inspection Post. Applicants will need to be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Attendance at the Border Inspection Post will be necessary to cover weekdays and weekends (where necessary). The function involves veterinary checks on relevant products of animal origin from non-EU countries. It is anticipated that the contract will commence in September 2012 and will be for a period of four years, with an option to extend for up to one year, at the sole discretion of the Council.
