Under the Rural Development Programme, €1.4m has been allocated under the Measures ’Training and Information’ and ‘Encouragement of Tourism Activities’As part of the process of providing support and training in these sectors, Louth Leader Partnership intends to recruit a trainer / training provider with relevant experience who will work in conjunction with the Rural Development Programme team to provide tour guide training for Louth based participants.It is proposed that this tour guide training will include classroom sessions, one to one training and 2 class field trips as directed over a 4 month period. The main content of this training will include the following areas:- Research techniques & Information sources- Tour Preparation- Coach tour guiding- Site guiding- Walking tours- Communication and oral presentation skills- Time Management for tours- Customer Service for tour guides- Health & Safety ObligationsTraining Evaluations and a Final Report on this training programme is required from the trainer once the programme is complete. It is envisaged that as a tangible outcome for participants that each will have developed the content for a tour in County Louth.
