Meath Field Names Project - GIS Mapping / Digitising of Meath Fields using Mapinfo Software

The Project is seeking quotes / tenders to digitise the fields of Meath as polygons – details as follows:There are approx. 1,600 townlands in County Meath.We estimate that approx. 1,400 of these townlands are rural townlands (i.e. suitable for inclusion in the field names survey).To date the project has returns for approx. 640 townlands and have 16,750 actual fields on the Project MS Access Database.Most of the townlands returned are fully complete but some are partially complete, e.g. a townland with 30 fields but only 20 fields have been surveyed. In this type of case we will be creating polygons for all the 30 fields in the townland.Realistically we will not achieve a 100% return for all townlands with the time and resources available. We have set a final deadline of end May 2012 for return of information.We estimate a return for a total of approx 700 townlands by end May (i.e. 50% of the rural townlands). We undertake that this contract will not exceed 750 townlands.It is difficult to give an average number of fields in Meath townlands – based on returns to date it would seem to be between 30-40 fields (.i.e. 30-40 polygons to be created for the average townland). Of course volunteers have tended to survey the smaller townlands first and townlands vary greatly in the number of fields they contain.For these approx. 700 townlands we wish a contractor to:-*Create polygons for the fields within the townlands.*Label each polygon with the unique field identifier.*Of the proposed 700 townlands, approx 200 townlands have already been digitised by volunteers. We will supply this work on a USB key and we require this work to be quality checked and corrections to be made as appropriate.*Amalgamate the Access database browser details with the Mapinfo polygon objects.*Supply us with a fully populated Mapinfo Table i.e.Access database details combined with Mapinfo polygon objects when the work is complete.*Quality check all the work and correct errors as appropriate.We wi
