The Provision of Park & Ride Service for the Volvo Ocean Race

Galway City Council is providing a temporary Park & Ride Facility at Galway Racecourse, Ballybrit, Galway. There will be two parking sites within the confines of the Racecourse site –Area 1 -Racecourse NorthArea 2 – Racecourse CentreThe parking at Area 1 to the North of the racetrack will be accessible only from the N17 and the parking at Area 2, the centre of the racetrack will be accessible from the N6 only.Cars or buses will not be permitted to cross the race track.The site is bounded by the N6, N17 and the Parkmore Road. The parking facilities will comprise approximately 5,000 car parking spaces which will include spaces for motorcyclists and people with disabilities.Galway City Council is inviting Tenders for the provision of the Park & Ride bus services to run at 5-minute intervals from both sites. The contract period will be for 9 consecutive days with the service operating on the following dates – Saturday June 30th to Sunday July 8th from 9.00am to 11.30pm.
