Weed Spraying Contract 2012/3 for Limerick City Council

Tender description

1) Limerick City Council's Environment Department proposes to appoint an external contractor(s) to provide weed control services in the city for a twelve-month period from 1st April, 2012 to 31st March, 2013.2) The successful contractor(s) will undertake a primary comprehensive spraying campaign as soon as weather conditions allow, after the start of the contract, followed by a series of spraying rounds every five weeks thereafter for the remainder of the contract term. The contractor(s) will be responsible for ensuring on an ongoing basis, that weed regrowth is checked both through active monitoring and response to reports forwarded by the Environment Department.3) Tendering Parties may submit quotations for each of the following lots:Lot 1 -Suburban Areas (209 km of public road i.e. 418 km of kerbside) and the City Centre Area (13km of public road i.e. 26km of kerbside),Lot 2 -Quay Walls ('water facing elevations'). A comprehensive quay wall spraying programme was undertaken in 2008 and care-and-maintenance sprays since then. For 2012, it is envisaged that a smaller scale 'touch-up' spray will be required subject to survey,Lot 3 -Ragwort Surveying and Spraying (Where Detected).Lot 4 -Occasional or periodic spraying of other public open spaces as requested by Limerick City Council.4) The successful contractor must co-ordinate spraying in such as a manner as to minimise the impact on planned street sweeping operations because it will be necessary not to sweep kerb channels for a short period immediately after spraying.5) Following the primary spraying campaign, any relevant complaints about or reports of weed growth will be forwarded by Limerick City Council to the appointed contractor(s) for immediate attention (subject to weather conditions) and the appointed contractor(s) will, subsequently, provide written confirmation of having attended accordingly.
