Tender description

Dúchas na Sionna wish to conserve the ruins of the historic cottage and other outbuildings known as Hastings Cottage. The remains are protected in the R.P.S. in the Clare County Development Plan and all works will be required to be of the highest conservation standards. Works will be permitted under a Section 57 Declaration from Clare County Council.As the buildings post date the year 1700 it is not a Recorded Monument.The house is a stone and cob wall construction and measures approx. 16 m x 8 m.Leader funding is being sought to carry out the conservation.Dúchas na Sionna invite tenders for the following works:Vegetation Removal – (Labour and Materials)1. Removal of vegetative growth including trees, ivy etc. from the ruined structures (house and outbuildings).2. Cleaning of stone-work and cob.3. Disposal of vegetation.Ground Works – (Labour and Materials)1. Clearing of grass, weeds and muck from surface of interior and exterior of structures.2. Installation of weed-proof membrane and covering with 75mm gravel (3/4 inch down limestone chips) to interior and to provide a 1metre footpath around the structures.3. Provision of 1 metre footpath from public road to house (as above)- approx. 60 metres..4. Provision of natural hedge at existing boundary fence.Conservation of Structures - (External and Internal Walls – Labour and Materials)1. Rake out between stones and re-point with appropriate NHL mix.2. Apply 3 coats of 3.5 NHL render to stone walls and cob walls.3. Cover walls with NHL 5 lime concrete.4. Cover concrete capping with grass turves (scraws).5. Repair existing breeches in cottage wall to height of remaining wall.6. Wash finished work with lime-paint.V.A.T. on above works and materials.
