Tender description

Scottish Marine Institute (SMI) is situated 3 miles north of Oban and is made up of 2 main buildings. The buildings are owned by Scottish Association for Marine Science. Aquapharm Biodiscovery Ltd and GlycoMar Ltd are tenant companies on the site. All three companies have staff and students on site and also have contractors and visitors on a regular basis requiring catering ranging from light snacks and drinks to full meals and from individual users to conferences of up to 200 persons.Highlands and Islands Enterprise is developing the European Marine Science Park next to the Scottish Marine Institute. In the short term this will not increase the number of potential users but growth is expected in the future and occupants of the Park will have access to the SMI cafe.The contract will be let by SAMS or its wholly owned subsidiary SAMS Research Services LtdMain provision will be in the Camus Café in the newly constructed Sheina Marshall building. There is another staff café in the adjacent Sir John Murray building for self catering (e.g. packed lunches) users. Opportunities exist for snack and vending provision in that area.Within the Sheina Marshall Building, we are developing the Scottish Ocean Explorer Centre as and outreach and visitor centre. The successful bidder will also be expected to provide catering for visitors in this area. Catering for meetings will be required in both of the main buildings.
