Tender description

The National Educational Welfare Board is responsible for ensuring that every child either attends school or otherwise receives an education.In May 2009, the Minister for State at the Department of Education and Science, Mr Sean Haughey TD, announced that with effect from 1st September 2009, the Home School Community Liaison Scheme ("HSCL"), the School Completion Programme ("SCP") and the Visiting Teachers Service for Travellers ("VTST") would be integrated under the NEWB.NEWB is now charged with undertaking responsibility for developing a single, strategic approach to meeting the needs of childern at risk of early school leaving or of developing attendance problems. This approach is currently being developed, drawing on the skills, expertise and knowledge of personnel from the four services now being brought together under the NEWB.The Board wishes to appoint a panel of consultants who will work with the Board on policy and / or reserach programmes to inform educational welfare service planning and support the formulation of policies and strategies relevant to children's participation in education in line with national policy.
