Tender description
Kerry County Council are seeking to undertake Ground Investigation Contract on the N69 Rea to Tullig Road Realignment Scheme.The N69 Rea to Tullig Road Realignment Scheme is a realignment of approximately 2.5km of the N69 Tralee-Listowel Road. The realignment commences approximately 9km northeast of Tralee in the townland of Rea.The scope of the ground investigation includes but is not limited to the following:(1) Slit trenches along the existing carriageway, road verges and adjacent lands at approximately 100m centres or as instructed by the Engineer’s Site Representative.(2) Trial pits ranging between 50m to 100m centres along the proposed carriageway along with associated sampling and testing of disturbed soil samples.(3) Cable percussion boreholes (‘boreholes’) at proposed structures, embankment areas and on slopes to the north of the scheme. The boreholes shall include recording soil strata, insitu testing (e.g. SPT N tests) and retrieval of disturbed and undisturbed (if possible) soil samples.(4) Rotary core drilling at each proposed bridge and on existing road verge is required. The rotary holes shall be opened holed to rock with insitu SPT ‘N’ testing performed in overburden or as instructed by the Engineer’s Site Representative. Coring of overburden material may be required as instructed by the Engineer’s Site Representative with a minimum of 5m of intact rock to be recovered.(5) Hand Operated Window Sampling (WS) on slopes to the north of the scheme between ch. 2000 and ch. 2300. The WS shall include recording soil strata and depth on the soil area.(6) The soil and rock testing regime shall include but not limited to sub-grade strength, shear strength of soils, index testing, compaction, oedometer compression, and contamination test amongst other tests.The location of all site investigation locations shall be as directed by the Engineer’s Site Representative.All testing to be scheduled by the Engineer’s Site Representative.The location co-ordinates and lev
