Tender description
The Chief Mechanical Engineers (CME) Department is responsible for maintaining Iarnród Éireann’s (IÉ) passenger and freight rail vehicles. Over the past number of years there has been a big investment in new rolling stock. The strategy of the company has also changed from a predominately Locomotive hauled fleet to a Diesel Multiple Unit fleet with distributed power through the train set. As a result of the change in fleet IÉ require a consultant with specialist knowledge in engine maintenance with particular knowledge but not confined to¿ MTU 6H1800¿ Cummins NTA 855-R1¿ Cummins 6B5.9GR¿ MAN LUH 7461The consultant will work alongside IÉ staff and IÉ’s engine contractors on all engine related work and report direct to the Manager Fleet Technical Support. The consultant will be based in Portlaoise Train Care Depot but must be available to work at all IÉ locations.
