NHS Cards and EHIC; Production, Personalisation and Fulfilment

Tender description

The NHSBSA wishes to contract for the provision of plastic card production,personalisation and fulfilment services. The NHSBSA is responsible for the administration of NHS Tax CreditExemption Cards, NHS Prescription Pre-Payment Certificate Cards, NHS Medical Exemption Cards (MedEx),NHS Maternity Exemption Cards (MatEx) and European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC). The services are described further in the scope of requirements, which is available to all parties expressing aninterest in bidding for this agreement, and include management of the entire production, personalisation andfulfilment process. This procurement will primarily cover the production, personalisation and fulfilment of: — EHIC’s – to cover the United Kingdom. In the 12 months from April 2009 to March 2010, 4.1 million EHIC’shave been produced, personalised and despatched, — NHS Pre-Payment Certificate Cards (PPC’s)– to cover England. In the 12 months from April 2009 to March2010, 1.3 million PPC’s have been produced, personalised and despatched, — NHS Medical Exemption Cards (MedEx) – to cover England. In the last 12 months, 376,500 MedEx havebeen produced, personalised and despatched, — NHS Maternity Exemption Cards (MatEx) – to cover England. In the 12 months from April 2009 to March2010, 500,000 MatEx have been produced, personalised and despatched, — NHS Tax Credit Exemption Cards – to cover the United Kingdom. In the last 12 months, 3.7 million Health Related Tax Credit Cards have been produced, personalised and despatched. The contract wishes to also contract for unspecified plastic card production, personalisation and fulfilmentservices on behalf of other participating NHS bodies (whether acting individually, or on behalf of, or together asmembers of any consortia), any other non-NHS bodies which the participants deem necessary for the deliveryof services or goods to NHS bodies, local authorities, other government departments or non-departmental public bodies.
