Tender description

The N59 Westport to Mulranny - N59 Kilbride (2.8km) Section Road Project is an early construction phase of the N59 Westport to Mulranny Road Project and extends from the southern speed limit signs of Newport Town in Carrowbaun Townland to Shandrum Townland.This is mainly an online road improvement with approximately 850 metres of offline realignment. It will comprise a ‘Type 3 Single Carriageway’ road to NRA DMRB Interim Advice Note 01/09 (IAN 01/09) and will be approximately 2.8km in length. As the design is to an interim advice note, Mayo County Council will undertake the role of PSDP.Mayo County Council will be the team leader and has prepared a preliminary design of the scheme and have begun the process to obtain Part 8 planning approval from Mayo County Council.Landowners have been informed of the scheme and a valuer and agronomist have been appointed to assess compensation and agree accomodation works. Land is to be acquired by landowner agreement.If Part 8 Planning is granted and all the land can be acquired by agreement the Engineering Consultant will be appointed.Ecology and archaeology assessments have been completed. Screening has been conducted for Appropriate Assessment and Enviromental Impact Assessment and it has been decided that neither an Appropriate Assessment nor an Environmental Impact Assessment is required.A Geotechnical Consultant has been appointed and it is envisaged that geotechnical investigations will be carried out in Spring 2011.Detailed Topographical information has been obtained.Mayo County Council require engineering consultancy services to assist Mayo County Council to prepare the detailed design of the scheme (Employer's Design), prepare construction contract documents, oversee the tender process and supervise the construction. The scope of services required by Mayo County Council consists of all services necessary for the management and delivery of Phases 3, 5, 6 and 7 of the NRA 2010 Project Management Guidelines in relation
