Extended Choice and Free Choice Network Elective Health Services

Tender description

The NHS currently procures a range of elective and clinical healthcare services through the Independent Sector Extended Choice Network (ECN) and Free Choice Network (FCN). Both are national framework agreements by which independent sector organisations are accredited by the Department of Health (DH) to receive referrals from the NHS. These arrangements are scheduled to terminate in March 2011 after which PCTs must put in place their own alternative arrangements. The procurement is not limited to the current ECH/FCN providers and is an open procurement. Consequently the PCTs in the East of England are seeking to collaboratively commission the following services under the Any Willing Provider (AWP) model. The following services are likely to be included in this procurement: Dermatology ENT General Surgery Gynaecology Ophthalmology Oral Surgery Pain Management Musculoskeletal / Orthopaedics, including joints Urology Endoscopy, including Direct Access Direct Access diagnostics including imaging, MRI, echo and ultrasound Further services may be added or removed as the procurement progresses.
