Tender description

The natterjack toad (Bufo calamita) is protected under the Irish Wildlife Acts (1976 & 2000) and is also listed on Annex IV of the EU Habitats Directive. This Habitats Directive listing obliges Ireland to undertake surveillance of the species [as per Article 11, Habitats Directive] and to report regularly on the species conservation status [as per Article 17, Habitats Directive]. Our last Article 17 report concluded that the natterjack was in Bad conservation status, with a range contraction in the first half of the C20th of over 50% [see: http://www.npws.ie/en/media/NPWS/Publications/CA/Media,6274,en.pdf].
