HULL TEACHING PCT - NHS Health Check : Vascular Risk Assessment

NHS Health Check : Vascular Risk Assessment NHS Hull is inviting suitably qualified providers from all sectors to express interest in working with the Trust to deliver a NHS Health Check vascular risk assessment service. The city of Hull has a resident population of approximately 262,000 people and covers an area of around 71 square kilometres. Hull is considered to be a deprived city using the IMD 2007 score. Its population experiences significantly poorer health compared to people living in other areas of the country; Hull has high rates of premature death from circulatory disease. Evidence shows that it is possible to identify risk factors for vascular disease (heart disease, stroke, diabetes and chronic kidney disease) and also to act to change them. Early intervention to reduce risk can prevent, delay and, in some circumstances, reverse the onset of vascular disease. Proposals for the NHS Health Check (previous Vascular Checks) were set out in Putting Prevention First in April 2008 with guidance regarding potential implementation being issued later that year. The recent NHS Health Check Best Practice Guidance (DH 2009) provides detail regarding the nature of the assessment . This vascular risk assessment service will support the PCT ' s strategic objectives set out in its WCC Medium Term Strategy and will complement existing provision . Interested parties should express an interest by registering on the YHCPC Bravo e-tendering portal web link below and complete the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ). The deadline for registration on the bravo e tendering site is the 23rd October 2009 with completion and upload of PQQ to be completed by 5pm Friday 30th October 2009.
