Tender description

The British Library requires as part of the ongoing rationalisation of its London business requirements to develop and construct a new fully automated newspaper storage building (NSB) at its Boston Spa campus in West Yorkshire to follow on from the Additional Storage Project (ASP) currently nearing completion. The Library is now seeking expressions of interest from appropriately qualified consulting engineers to provide full site assessment / investigation services in relation to two alternative site locations for the new building. At invitation to tender stage the Employer will include in the tender information a document outlining the scope of services required (ie studies/activities/development etc), as far as can reasonably be foreseen necessary at this stage, to facilitate, and remove obstructions to, the subsequent design process to cover both sites. In particular it will seek to identify/specify/provide all outstanding information to aid removal of uncertainty and risk in planning for the main design/construction contract. The document will inter alia cover: ground conditions, habitats/ecology, archaeology, drainage strategy, pertinent EIA considerations, etc. Selected tenderers will be expected to review the scope of services and to suggest additional services and/or alternative solutions, as appropriate, which are beneficial to the smooth running and economy of the project. The Pre-Qualification Questionnaire and Briefing Note also contains information relating to these requirements.
