Tender description

Location The scheme is located on the A1 trunk road Belford Bypass, near Belford in Northumberland which forms the main arterial north-south route between England and Scotland. The length of the A1 under consideration is located north of Belford and extends for approximately 2.5km, from the Belford / Warren Mill junction to a point 150m south of the Detchant junction. Details of the Works The proposed carriageway works consist of the removal, by the process of cold milling, of the existing bituminous carriageway, with an average thickness of approximately 150mm; cracking and seating the underlying CBM base and inlaying a 150mm thick bituminous carriageway. Carriageway works are followed by the application of new road markings and replacing studs with low profiled armoured studs. Traffic Management The mainline A1 will be closed for approximately 2.8 km with a wide area diversion route set up to handle the main arterial north-south traffic and a local diversion route through Belford village. All the diversion route signing will form part of the works.
