M55 Junction 1-4 Drainage and resurfacing

M55 JUNCTION 1 to 4 DRAINAGE RENEWAL AND RESURFACING. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK LOCATION The scheme is split into three areas: Drainage renewal: (i) Located at M55 Junction 4 Westbound Exit Slip Road. Resurfacing: (ii) Located on M55 Westbound carriageway close to junction 3, from White Carr to Corner Row. (iii) Located on M55 Eastbound carriageway between junctions 1 and 3, from the entry slip at Junction 3 to the bridge over the Lancaster Canal. DESCRIPTION OF WORK Area: (i) Demolition of a sign gantry at Junction 4, replacement of a defective section of 750mm diameter concrete drainage pipe located at a depth of 4m beneath the hard shoulder, a further 500m of slip lining of existing drainage, and installation of a new sign gantry. (ii) Approximately 1.3km of reconstruction of pavement to 300mm depth over a width of 1m, with the remainder of Hard Shoulder and Lane 1 resurfaced to 40mm depth. (iii) Resurfacing a total of 5km of eastbound carriageway between Junctions 1 to 3. Replacing and slip lining a total of 150m of 225mm diameter concrete drainage pipe located at a depth of 2m beneath the hard shoulder. TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT It is envisaged that the work will be undertaken under lane closures with full overnight westbound carriageway closures between junctions 3 and 4 for the removal and replacement of the gantry, and closure of the Junction 4 westbound exit when necessary.
