NADIS Phase 3 MS4 Message Signs and CCTV

Tender description

The Newcastle Area Driver Information System (NADIS); Phase 3 scheme is for the provision of five Message Signs Mk4 (MS4 variant) with associated CCTV installation, around the ‘Newcastle Box’ for driver information and queue protection. All in accordance with Highways Agency specifications and procedures. The term ‘Newcastle Box’ has been assigned to the area of trunk road/motorway encircling Newcastle/Gateshead, from Seaton Burn junction in the North to Washington in the South, linked together by the A1, A19, A194(M) and A184 trunk roads. The Message Signs and CCTV will be controlled from and CCTV images transmitted to the Highways Agency’s North East Regional Control Centre (RCC), situated in Wakefield, Yorkshire. Recently, as part of the overall NADIS project strategic electronic Message Signs (MS3 variant) were installed on the approaches to the Newcastle Box at Seaton Burn and Washington Interchanges. There are two MS4 signs currently under construction on the Northbound and Southbound approaches to Blaydon Bridge (A1). This scheme (Phase 3) follows on from those works. Due to construction, traffic management and programming constraints contributors will be required to develop foundation design to minimise disruption to travelling public.
