M6 Lowhurst Southbound

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SCOPE OF WORKS FOR THIS SCHEME HAS NOW CHANGED. ADDITIONALLY, WE WILL NOW BE REQUESTING TWO REFERENCE CONTRACTS TO REFLECT THESE CHANGES, THE PQQ CLOSING DATE WILL NOW BE EXTENDED BY A WEEK. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK LOCATION M6 Southbound carriageway (MP 482/3 to MP479/6) between junctions 41 and 42. The motorway being dual three lanes with hardshoulders. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The works include the following: -Surfacing works to the existing carriageway. -The safety barrier in the centre reserve is also to be replaced with a concrete step barrier system. -Renewal of the combined carrier / renewal drain in the centre reserve. -Civils works include drainage repairs, ironwork, road markings and road studs. -Bridge deck refurbishment (rewaterproofing, drainage improvement and parapet upgrade) The works are programmed to commence on the 23rd September 2009 and be completed by 20th December 2009 a period of 12 weeks. The resurfacing work is restricted to the Southbound carriageway only. TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT It is envisaged that the work will be undertaken under lane closures and 2+2 contraflow on the northbound carriageway, however a lane is to be retained on the southbound carriageway to maintain access from the Jnc 42 S/B entry slip road. A 50mph mandatory speed limit will be enforced. Speed cameras are to be installed.
