M6 Borrowbeck Bridge

Tender description

Location The scheme is located on the M6 (MP 428/8) between junctions 37 and 38. The carriageway is a 3 lane motorway with hardshoulders. The works are to the northbound carriageway. Details of Work The works include the following: Replacement of expansion joints and articulation joints, as well as waterproofing and surfacing on M6 Borrowbeck Bridge. As part of the surfacing the carriageway will also be re-profiled to improve surface water run off. To further enhance the drainage of the bridge kerb drainage and sub surface drainage will be installed. The works are programmed to commence on the 01/09/09 and be completed by 6/10/09 a period of 5 weeks. Traffic Management It is envisaged that the works will be undertaken under contraflow with a full closure of the northbound carriageway of the M6. There will be a mandatory 50mph speed restriction over the full length of the works.
