M6 Roundthwaite Southbound Refurbishment

Tender description

Location The scheme is located on the M6 Southbound carriageway at Roundthwaite Bridge (M6 MP 430/6) which is between junctions 37 and 38, being approximately 2.3km south of junction 38. The works are to the southbound carriageway only. The carriageway is a three lane motorway. Details of Work The works involve the following: -Removal of surfacing, waterproofing and joints to expose the concrete deck. -Repairs to the deck and preparation to a U4 surface finish. -Installation of new joints, proprietary waterproofing system and sub-surface drainage at waterproofing level. -The surfacing is to be relaid to revised levels to create a ‘rolling crown’. The works are programmed to commence on the 1st June 2009 and be completed by 19th July 2009. A period of 7 weeks. Traffic Management It is envisaged that the majority of the works will be undertaken under contraflow. There will be a mandatory 50mph speed restriction over the full length of the works.
