Lyndon Distribution Centre (LDC) Stores is a stores and logistics function managed by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) serving primary, secondary and academy schools in the Borough of Solihull, as well as, several council departments, with a variety of products to include but not limited to disposable, cleaning, janitorial products, clothing, and PPE, electrical and first aid products. The stores are a small warehouse facility in Fordbridge, Solihull and provide a delivery service to its internal and external customers on a weekly basis. Its external customers include schools in Birmingham and Walsall as well as Parish Councils in neighbouring areas. There are approximately 3,000 product lines held in stock.
As part of a review of its internal procurement process and an earlier market engagement, LDC Stores is looking now to proceed with set up a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) which be a flexible framework of approved suppliers that will be able to bid, quote, or tender for goods as and when these are advertised on the Council’s e- tendering portal CSW-JETS for supply to LDC Stores. The DPS will be set up for period of 5 years with the option to extend for 2 years . Potential suppliers will be able to apply at any time during the duration of the DPS. The DPS will operate on a two-stage process. 1st Stage is admission. Admission will be assessed on the back of a quality questionnaire. Suppliers should complete and return the quality questionnaire if they wish to be considered. The 2nd Stage will be the individual quotation/ tender process against on the required products. Successful admission to the DPS will not guarantee business to any supplier. Suppliers will be expected to meet the stores’ requirements and specifications on individual product lines. On some lines this will be bulk products that the stores would break down; on others it might be small individual products. Suppliers should be able to supply product samples free of charge, if requested. The expectation is that suppliers would be able deliver any bulky products required on vehicles with a tail lift as the stores does not operate a fork-lift truck operation.
