Appliance Prescription Management Service

The Appliance Prescription Management Service (APMS) framework by the East of England NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub is a national agreement offering trusts and public bodies access to reliable appliance prescription services and advice hubs with specialised clinical input. Covering items such as stoma and continence supplies, the framework stems from research into the regions stoma care services, aiming to enhance patient-focused services, improve care, and reduce waste. The APMS framework, accessible to EOECPH member trusts and other public bodies, has a potential duration of up to four years, with flexibility for extensions. Procured under the Public Contract Regulations 2015, it employs an unranked multi-award framework agreement to cater to diverse product needs, allowing Participating Authorities the flexibility to award contracts directly or through mini competitions, fostering market exploration and competition. ABI 1% The East of England NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub’s Appliance Prescription Management Service framework (APMS) is a national agreement giving trusts and other public bodies access to the provision of regular, reliable, managed appliance prescription services and advice hubs with specialist clinical input. Prescription appliances can include stoma and continence supplies, for example pouches, flanges, catheters, urinary bags, barrier creams and sprays. The agreement can also accommodate any other suitable appliance-based services. The APMS framework was developed following research carried out by the East of England NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub (EOECPH), into the region’s stoma care services. Findings, published in EOECPH’s StoMap Baseline Report in September 2019, helped to inform this framework with the aim of assisting trusts in delivering patient-focussed services and aiding improvements to patient care whilst achieving cost saving efficiencies by reducing waste from overprescribing and overordering.
